The day has come for LMBW to join the ranks of democratically run wikis! We are now adding administrator to Requests for Rights, meaning qualified community members can request admin rights, and the community will vote on whether to accept them or not. The system will be very similar to the system used to vote on chat mods and patrollers, but obviously the requirements are different.
These are the main requirements (they will also be posted on the actual pages):
- A minimum of 6 months on the LMBW without a block
- A minimum of 2 months of active experience as a moderator
- At least 1,000 total edits (any namespace)
- At least 200 mainspace edits
In order for an admin request to be successful, it must have 25 supporting votes, and 75% of the total (supports+opposes) votes must be support. So if it has 25 supports, there can be no more than 8 opposes for the request to pass. Requests will stay up for around a week, unless a clear consensus is reached sooner (e.g., if a request has 25 supports and no opposes in three days, we'll probably close the request sooner).
Also, if your admin request fails, you have to wait 8 weeks before requesting it again. For mods we are putting a 4 week necessary space of time between requests, and for patrollers 2 weeks. We are also changing patroller to needing only 10 supports, since most people don't edit, and don't care about who has patroller rights.

Also, a few notes about voting in general. Canvassing (asking people to support you) is not allowed, but asking people to vote on your request or linking it is not prohibited, as long as you don't harass people or spam links. Moreover, when opposing people, please leave clear reasons that will help the candidate improve. Invalid reasons, like opposing someone because they opposed you in an RfR, or opposing someone because you personally don't like them, aren't acceptable.
There may be some questions about whether we are adding bureaucrat to Requests for Rights. We are still in the process of discussing this, and if we decide soon I will update this blog to reflect that.
